The difference between men and boys... is the price of their toys...

Have you ever walked into a toy store and felt a rush as your mind mentally travels back in time to when you where a child ?

A sudden overflow of childhood memories, laughter, falls, fears and timeless mental snapshots as your eyes scan the different toy sections.

The words:

I remember

Ages ago

when I was

once

I used to

All become word transactions between your sentences as you rant along loudly and eagerly.

Just like the 8 year old boy that’s jabbering on ever so excitedly with a Cheshire cat grin on his face while he sits on the toy store floor legs, stretched out flat in front of him, while a sales assistant helps him strap up the coolest Rollerblades ever..

Wait a minute..

I know that boy.

That wasn't any 8 year old boy!!

That WAS me.

I literally was sitting flat on the floor and like a child insisted I had to had to had to try on the Rollerblades. The sales assistant managed to get my tiny feet into the last pair, a size 34/35.. I managed to pull a Cinderella!!

That’s what happens to me when I enter a toy store !!
I know I'm a grown woman, that works a respectable professional serious job.. But I am still a child deep within! And if any one of you denies the true child in them.. then read the title again and you'll know you still are :)

Anyways moral of the story..
If you wanna little lift me up... A laugh... Or just a good time.. Visit a toy store when you get a chance to..
For continuous amusement and joy.. Simply surround yourself with kids...

P.s. No matter how much you say you hate kids... We all know you really don't ;)

I cannot agree more. You know, when I go with my eight year old brother to the toy store, BOTH of us have fun! I like playing with the weird small toys and he gets another Hulk Hogan look-alike.
And of course, we both enjoy going to the park as well, swinging and leaning backwards with our feet in the air :)

We always love kids! As for old school toys I always get the "OLA, SHAKHBARI!" sentance in my head or "Ayam awal! Ayam 3iz! I wish I could go back to the days when I first started using this!"

Zizo, take it easy, love :-p

Ah .. toys ..
I took my five year old brother to fantasy world, like over a month ago before I left. It was great fun. he took five or six toys while in the car we 'agreed' that he can only take one. lol and before we left he took a bear, you know the 'russ' bears? not something that he plays with. i asked him why he wants it, he said 'mo 7aggi ana, 7ag ammoona'. It was so thoughtful of him to think of our younger sister :-p i miss them two rugrats, lol

Digmaa i am making every effort to physically live the child days back, my most buy of DVD's are cartoons, my bathing towels are prints of donald duck with his towel, and i never 'ever ever' miss to watch two shows from cartoon network 'foster's home for the imaginary' and 'courage the cowerdly dog'

as for toys... tarkeeb most likely, cz engineering rules :D

hey listen now, i already signed ur copy, and want to deliver it to you, for u to pick it up, specify the place by email to me. deal?

Your Rugrats sound so cuuuute and allah ekhaleekum 7ag ba3ath ;**

I have a question.. now.. Cartoon characters hardly wear clothes.. but, why is it.. when they shower or swim they always wrap a towel around their waist like Donald Duck ?;P
Cuuuteness !!
I love my daily dose of cartoons.. even though the kids aren't in kuwait and on vacation in Kids Heaven now (Disney).. I still switch the TV on kids channels and enjoy with a bowl of cereal ;P

So true!

There was something about an overpriced piece of plastic that made me giggle and want to play...be it dolls, action-men, costumes...*sigh* Those days were simple.

Now after taking couses in feminism I just can't look at Barbie the same way. Or taking courses in politics and looking at the materialism of it all. It has been...tainted.

So my "back seat" comment is catching on. Int-er-est-ing!

Y'know what we need? A grown up jungle gym. That would be loads of fun. When the weather cools we can go back to Ent City. We always revert to 5 year olds when we go there ;)

You should work at FAO Shwartz ;)

Well not all toys were made for kids, seriously though, my idea of an ideal vacation with my girl would be, after a beach honeymoon that is, is to live it up in Disney Land like it was 1993 ;p

simple is exactly what childhood is about.. but even as an adult.. sometimes its best to keep your knowledge and influences seperate from your indulgances and desires..
Ex: coffee.. chocolate and other happy go jolly items.. they are all in decievingly bad but ever so good !! (too much coffee in my system today.. ignore my wierdness)

No3ik:
I'm happy you loved my post.. you're welcome.. and Yes Yes Thunder Cats !

Scarlo:
I always gave my Barbies funky hair do's too.. then my Brother (God bless his soul) always pulled the heads off, legs and arms.. I used to bury them in the garden just by the pet graves..

its scary when a "grown man" is still into toys.. no offence.. but ..

Men never let go of toys; they just use different types as they grow older. Here is a list of my toys which I play with daily:

1) My iPod
2) My Sport Car
3) My Sony PS2
4) My computer

If you think about it, the above list is nothing other than toys I play with.

Anonymous said...

not sure about toys, but playing with a child as s/he plays with a toy .. now that's jolly good living
